Nam Chuan Huat Trading was established by the grandfather Goh Xu Yu in year 1928, with its core business being local retailing in Melaka.   The father and uncle then took inherited the business in 1950s. They expanded the business to national wide wholesales and retailing. In addition, they also started producing mangrove charcoal locally.   The son, Goh Chee Beng took over the business in year 1985. He started to import charcoals from Indonesia and distribute them to Penisular Malaysia and East Malaysia (e.g., Sabah and Sarawak). Later in year 1992, he exported the charcoal to other countries like Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia and etc. To date, the export business has made up the sales to approximately a thousand tons. Additionally, he also continue to focus on local supply, with an expansion of different products, such as local charcoal, compressed charcoal, chaff compressed charcoal, activated carbon, orchids and agricultural charcoal.
