The company was founded in 2007 by Jean-Yves Sireau and Jim Mellon. Jean-Yves Sireau is CEO of Genseq and is the founder of Regent Markets Group Ltd., a global financial derivatives company with offices in 3 countries and annual turnover of US$ 100 million. In May 2007, Genseq raised GBP 1.13 million from 30 high net worth European investors, and established an office in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Genseq is backed by successful European investors and entrepreneurs and has a shareholder list of 30 individuals.
