Bank of China Malaysia Berhad (BOCM) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOCHK). BOCHK is a major commercial banking group and one of the three note-issuing banks in Hong Kong, serving as the sole clearing bank for Renminbi (RMB) business. Bank of China established its first branch in Malaysia in 1939 and ceased operations in 1959. With the rapid economic and trade development between Malaysia and China, and the support of both governments, Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad officially recommenced business as a full-fledged commercial bank on February 23, 2001.

Since then, Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad has played a pivotal role in business development and facilitating bilateral trade between Malaysia and China. The bank has pioneered a wide range of Renminbi financial products and services, including pre-exchange Renminbi fund transfers, wholesale Renminbi notes and exchange, cross-border Renminbi trade settlements, Renminbi deposits and loans, Renminbi prepaid cards, Renminbi trade finance services, and Renminbi money market and treasury services.

Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad also provides comprehensive corporate lending, trade financing, global loan facilities, cross-border trade settlements, and personal banking solutions to support the business development of both Malaysian and Chinese enterprises.

Currently, Bank of China (Malaysia) Berhad operates branches in Kuala Lumpur, Muar, Penang, Klang, Johor Bahru, Puchong, Kuching, and Melaka. The bank also has a subsidiary company, China Bridge (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, which handles China visa applications in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, and Penang.
