Our school, our company

The French school of Kuala Lumpur is a non-profit expatriate school, that is governed by a board of directors elected amongst parents of enrolled students. It was founded in 1962 initially for the French and a small French-speaking community, and now enrols around 600 students from almost 40 nationalities, who follows the French curriculum. It has turned into a successful Company Limited by Guarantee registered as a Berhad.

The LFKL is a school homologated by the French Ministry of Education and has an official agreement with AEFE, the Agency for French Education Aboard under the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This relation gives our students access to the French school system in France as well as to a global network of 522 schools whose curriculum is taught in 140 countries around the world.

Our values

The LFKL sees the diversity of its pupils as an opportunity to celebrate multilingualism, and offers teaching adapted to all new French speakers. In addition to French, English is taught from kindergarten through a wide range of educational activities: from geography to games and physical education.

The school is committed to providing an education that is sensitive to environmental issues, and the company is attentive to all initiatives aimed at reducing our environmental footprint.

From the earliest age to the last year of school, academic excellence, support towards greater autonomy and a sincere concern for the best possible guidance are key aspects of our French education.

Our Campus

Our campus is located in Segambut, North Kiara and is spread over 2 sites: Hevea is the Primary school including kindergarten, while LFKL is the Secondary school and the main campus with outstanding facilities. Our school is aiming at creating very soon a European campus at our current premises with the partnership of the German school of Kuala Lumpur (DSKL). Students of both schools will share facilities like classrooms, sport, arts and sciences facilities, canteen, school bus, etc. Operations will be conducted in a coordinated way to meet the respective needs and expectations of each management. This move is expected to take place no later than September 2024.
